Herald Tribune: Like Mother Like Daughter

Herald Tribune May Style Magazine 2018

Thank you to Kristine Nickel and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune Media Group for highlighting Take Care Home Health’s founder, Susanne Wise, RN, MBA, alongside her daughters, Courtney Wise Snyder, MSG, CMC, and Erika Wise Borland, MA, for a special Mother’s Day article “Like Mother, Like Daughter” in the May 2018 issue of Style Magazine.

Their family foundation propels them to build relationships with clients and employees for a continuity of generational support and care.

Here is an excerpt of the article:

“My mantra to my children in growing up was to focus on what they love to do and what brings you passion, as that is what I had done with my own career.” Susanne was surprised — “delightfully so” — when Courtney, armed with a master’s degree in gerontology, joined her to form an extension of Take Care called Take Care Advisor. “That arm of the company has grown in 10 years from 3 clients to 225,” says Sue with pride.

Erika had been living in Boston and working in public relations when she offered to do some freelance work for her mother and sister. Ultimately, she relocated back to Sarasota to lead the business development efforts of the company. “Steering Courtney and Erika toward their individual strengths and passions led them back to Take Care in an unplanned, organic way,” adds Sue. She ends her story with this: “The joy (of working together) is the luxury of seeing family day in and day out and knowing that the weight of a 24/7 business is carried by everyone. Our goals are all blended. The frustration is having to attempt to compartmentalize family versus business.”

Courtney, who has now assumed the role of president of all Take Care companies, agrees that it’s tough to separate business and family. “There are times when we are together as an entire family, when we work hard to not talk about Take Care. Especially now with us all having children of our own.” A third sister, Whitney, an educator, has three boys under the age of 6, Erika has two girls under the age of 4, and she has an 8-week-old daughter. “During family time, we embrace being together and watching our families grow. We try to make that the focus and make a pointed effort to have specific times to discuss work away from those precious family times.”

What Our Clients Have to Say

I don't know if you hear this often, but your work touches so many people in a ripple effect all over the world. I know because our family is so spread out and you touched us all. It's such a comfort to know that Mom and Dad's wish to be together and in an independent apartment was the right choice for them and for us. Again thank you for all that you did.
