Marguerite Florensa, RN, MPA
As Executive Administrator for Take Care, Marguerite Florensa, RN, leads and directs the nursing department for the entire agency as well as maintaining clients’ care while developing new industry standards. She began her nursing career more than 40 years ago in the hospital setting and made the move to long term Care 20 years ago as a nursing home administrator. Her career has been woven with operations and clinical leadership positions. Marguerite brings her knowledge of compliance and quality assurance to Take Care by overseeing the development and implementation of the company’s strategic plans and ensuring the company’s compliance with AHCA regulations. Marguerite facilitated the clinical implementation of Take Care’s electronic medical records software.
Prior to her transition to long term care, she served as a staff nurse in the acute care setting while earning her Bachelor’s Degree. She was promoted to the Director of Community and Patient Education position where she developed and implemented health education programs for inpatient and community education as well as a Quality Assurance program for clinical services.
Marguerite assisted in developing a QA program for Clinical Services at a hospital where she presented the program to the state surveyors and her model was adapted and initiated in other hospitals throughout the area under the jurisdiction of the Department of Health. At the hospital, she was promoted as the Vice President for Nursing Services where she was responsible to oversee the full service acute care hospital, the Long Term Care Nursing Home, the Inpatient and Outpatient Mental Health Units and the Inpatient and Ambulatory Surgery Centers. She led the hospital back into compliance with State and Federal Regulations and drove the process for a successful JCAHO accreditation. The QA/Risk Management process for all of clinical services was developed and implemented under her direction and she chaired the hospital’s QA/Risk Management committee at the direction of the Board of Directors based on her previous experiences and successes.
She earned her Master’s Degree and completed a Post Masters certification in Nursing Administration where she utilized her QA/Risk Management Program as the basis for her thesis. After earning her degrees, Marguerite switched her career focus to long term care where she developed a subacute program for post hospitalization care in the skilled nursing setting. Marguerite served as an on-site administrator for four years before being promoted to Regional Director of Operations overseeing 10-15 facility locations.
She then moved on to a Nursing facility as the Executive Director for four years and was named Administrator of the Year two years running. Marguerite then oversaw three CCRC communities with operations including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Long term care, short term rehabilitation and Home Health Care services. The QA/QI/Risk Management programs being implemented and monitored were the main focus of her responsibility for these properties as she worked with Corporate Compliance in her capacity as the Director of Clinical Services and Quality.
Marguerite lives in Lakewood Ranch, FL with her husband, Juan. They have two grown children, Shannon Kraska and Karen Kraska Hundley, and eight grandsons: Brady, Jake, Luke, Kevin, Aiden, Nathan, Uriah and Archer.
