Take Care Home Health is counting down to its 15th Anniversary celebration scheduled for May 2010. We invite all Take Care employees to join in the office celebrations in Sarasota, Bradenton, or Venice the first Friday of every month throughout Take Care’s 15th year.
We will highlight health and wellness themes. In order to care for others, you have to take time for yourself. With prizes, giveaways, drawings, quizzes, and more we will celebrate Take Care’s anniversary and recognize that every employee contributes directly to Take Care’s growth and on-going success.
Thank you to all of our caregivers, from private duty home health aides to nurses to care managers, for your everyday focus on the well-being of Take Care clients.
June 2009: Walking at the Beach
A Harvard study recently found that as little as an hour of walking a week can greatly reduce one’s risk of coronary artery disease. Visit the Mayo Clinic‘s website for a lengthier explanation of the disease.
In addition, there are numerous benefits to walking and About.com provides a multitude of reasons why you should start walking and how to motivate yourself!
Though it may sound like a strange and basic question—how do I walk?—there are several different elements that can change up your walking routine. Whether you choose to carry 1-pound weights in your hands as you walk or increase your walking pace, such elements will boost your heart rate.
Exercise reduces stress and helps you commit to a healthy lifestyle. The University of California Berkeley’s Wellness Letter outlines some helpful tips on how to step up and improve your walks. Are you ready to walk?
On Friday, June 5, 2009, Take Care caregivers who were present received prizes ranging from a water noodle to sunscreen to a mini cooler with freezer pops. Walking on the beach is a great way to increase the intensity of your workout. And it’s a great place to relax and take a break after your thirty-minute walk!
Take Care and take time for yourself.
Watch for news on July’s celebration as we partner with Fleet Feet Sarasota to provide Take Care caregivers with additional information on caring for your shoes/feet and preparing yourself for running and walking.
